Duwamish River Valley – Stormwater Outreach Project
Through a grant from the Duwamish River Opportunity Fund, PPRC is working with the Duwamish Valley Youth Corp and the City of Seattle, in stormwater outreach to the Duwamish community.

In the first project, the team developed a new stencil design for storm drains and inlets that flow directly to the Duwamish River. The stencil messaging hopes to prevent illicit dumping or spills to storm drains, and implores the community to protect the wildlife that inhabit the river.

In the second project, the team developed outreach stickers for food trucks, asking them to pledge to always properly dispose of wastewater and fats, oils, and grease, at their commissary kitchen, and never down a storm drain. The circular decal is intended for the outside of the truck, and the rectangular sticker is for wastewater and/or FOG containers used by the operators to collect and transport those waste streams to their commissary.

The team then visited food trucks in the Duwamish Valley area and handed out the stickers along with drain strainers, waste receptacle stickers (waste, recycle, compost), safe sanitizing information from CleanSHiFt.
