This webinar will provide an introduction to the GreenScreen™ for Safer Chemicals and one user’s experience. The GreenScreen is a method for comparative chemical hazard assessment that is currently used by a growing number of large manufacturers of products ranging from chemicals to electronics, apparel and footwear. That user is Hewlett Packard (HP) who has been a leader in using comparative chemical hazard assessment, specifically the GreenScreen, to identify safer alternatives to chemicals of concern in their global material supply chain.

Eight states* are working together to help businesses reduce the use of toxic chemicals in products and to replace them with safer alternatives. The states are working on a guidance document that will help companies to look at their products, identify chemicals that have less of an impact on human health and the environment and replace them with chemicals that lead to safer products.

This process, called an ‘alternatives assessment,’ is meant to help businesses of all sizes – from small companies to larger enterprises – identify the safest available materials for their products.

This webinar will discuss progress since the previous webinar in August and new parts of the guidance completed or in draft. The draft Decision Module will be highlighted as it will define how companies can most effectively use all the recommended approaches for an alternatives assessment.

This webinar will not discuss any of the topics covered in the previous webinar. If you were unable to participate in that webinar, you can review the powerpoint presentation and listen to a recording of the presentation and subsequent discussion. You may find both at the guidance blog.
