Celebrate Community Solar In Kirkland on April 8!March 31, 2016
Kirkland Mayor Amy Walen will cut the ribbon on a new solar system at Kirkland’s Friends of Youth, a nonprofit that operates youth shelters and offers youth development, family support, and counseling for young parents and families.
The system was donated by Northwest Electric & Solar, the contractor for the Solarize Kirkland campaign, as a way to way to thank the Kirkland community for making the campaign so successful. The 3.36kW solar panel system is valued at around $16,000 and will provide thousands of kWh per year of clean energy to Friends of Youth and the surrounding Kirkland community.

Why: To celebrate the addition of more clean energy to Kirkland and a job well done!
About Solarize Kirkland: Solarize Kirkland aims to help Kirkland’s residents be able to purchase affordable, clean energy to power their homes and businesses. The campaign is a partnership between the City of Kirkland, PPRC, Puget Sound Energy, and Northwest Sustainable Energy for Economic Development (SEED). Funding for the Solarize program came from the WA Dept. of Commerce through a grant from the U.S. Department of Energy.
