A Bellevue Boys & Girls Club Is Going Solar!November 21, 2014
By surpassing the target number of 30 solar installations in Bellevue, the Solarize Bellevue campaign unlocked a free solar system for a deserving nonprofit. Northwest Electric & Solar has generously agreed to donate a free system, valued at over $16,000, to the Bellevue Boys & Girls Clubs. The Boys & Girls Clubs were selected by a community vote cast during October.
The installation will go on the Club’s Teen Center building and is planned to occur in February, 2015. The system will use made-in-Washington Itek modules and an Itek inverter. The award recipient will not only use the energy that the system produces, but will be paid $0.54 for each kilowatt hour produced.
The Solarize Bellevue Campaign, which leverages the power of a group purchase to garner more affordable solar systems for Bellevue residents and businesses, is now setting its sights on the stretch-goal of installing 50 solar systems.
