PPRC is a non-profit organization that is the Northwest’s leading source of high quality, unbiased pollution prevention (P2) information. PPRC works collaboratively to promote environmental protection through pollution prevention. PPRC believes that environmental and economic vitality go hand in hand, and that both are necessary to protect the high quality of life enjoyed in our region.

Brown Grease

Brown grease contains in the neighborhood of 12,000 Btus per pound. Preliminary research shows that almost without exception, Pacific Northwest brown grease remains an untapped resource. Yellow grease (fryer grease) in contrast is now used in many locations by biodiesel manufacturers. According to one estimate, the quantity of brown grease per capita is twice to three times that of yellow grease. ... (more)

RECENT NEWS

Congratulations to Kadel's Auto Body of Oregon for receiving the EcoBiz cerfification for their Hillsboro location. This is their 10th and final shop to be certified. "We could not be more pleased by the leadership Kadel’s continues to display in preventing pollution,” said PPRC's Deputy Director Debra Taevs at the presentation. To be certified, a business must go beyond state and local requirements for pollution prevention, completing a rigorous 97 point checklist. Read more about the EcoBiz program here.
